Living in a world where you are more often than not, in the minority makes you resilient and builds character. I’m sure that you will have experienced this at some point during your life. Whether that be because of your gender or your age, your race or your religion, your background or your experience.
My mission is to create a world that is more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. Because I have first hand experience
Of just how frustrating it is to live in a world when something isn’t accessible
For no good reason.
To make the world more accessible, it will require us to remove barriers. Some barriers are tangible while others may be harder to spot.
For example, its obvious that entry into a building needs to have a ramp or a stair free access.
It’s not always obvious the barriers which result from the lack of consideration for people with disabilities when manufacturers or service providers are creating products and services which are not accessible for people with disabilities. Accessibility is also a business building driver. There are studies which demonstrate the link between accessible products and services to higher revenue as more people can benefit from them.
I am confident by treating people with disability in an equitable manner and by including them in the design process in same way we do for the rest of society
I believe that we can create a world which is equitable, inclusive and accessible.
